I shared some of my top tips on healthy eating while traveling HERE and now I am looking forward to sharing all of the ways I like to stay fit while on the road!
I have tried out many, many fitness apps during the past 2 years as a flight attendant. Sometimes I simply don't have the time to head to the fitness room and other times I feel like I can get just as good of a workout in without even having to leave my room.
Here are the few fitness apps I have kept around and actually use!
Tone It Up app
{Pictured: Karena and Katrina, founders of Tone it up}
Why I love it: I have been following the "tone it up girls" for years. Karena and Katrina are best friends living in LA. They created "Tone it up" which is a fitness company with downloadable workout DVDs, a lifelong nutrition plan membership program and tons of Youtube fitness vids. All of these videos are put into sections in their app. It is easy to use and their workouts are fast and entertaining and you actually feel them the next day!
Nike training app
Why I love it: you can customize the workouts and save them to your phone so no WiFi is needed. I love how "quiet" the app is, too - it shows examples of the workout and only speaks when you switch to a different one. There is no annoying background music or unnecessary voice over. There are many famous athletes, singers, and celeb trainers who have created workouts so its fun to follow along with your favorites. I love Ellie Goulding's short pre or post run yoga routine.
Nike running app
Why I love it: Nike running app now hooks up to your Spotify account and creates a station based on your running tempo. It tracks your runs, keeps track of your speed and distance and is just a very easy mile tracker, It is cool to open the app and see your total mile count, it keeps me motivated to rack up more! ALSO- they have amazing and simple to use TRAINING GUIDES FOR RACES! I started training for a half marathon at the start of the year (before I started traveling abroad so frequently) and was using the coaching section of the Nike running app for help with how many miles to do each day.
