Dave and I spent some time in his hometown where his parent's still live in a lovely, old farmhouse in Stoneridge in upstate New York. It was a small town in the country, near the epic Catskill mountains and Albany. What a wonderful break this little trip was for us from the hustle of fast paced big city life. Everything in Stoneridge seemed to move at a slower pace. I felt so at ease there, among the clean air and warm hearted people I met. I have never been anywhere in New York other than New York City. It was wonderful to experience another part of the state that is so completely different than the mayhem of NYC - which, in my opinion, is the one thing most people think of when they hear the words New York.
Here are some photos from our shenanigans during our relaxing 4 day visit.

Dave waiting at the airport for our flight. |

We flew Jet Blue and it was one of the nicest flights! Free T.V. with a ton of channels and free, unlimited snacks which included a few healthy options. |

The above photos are from our first morning in Stoneridge. We took a walk around the area and sat by a lovely pond nearby. I couldn't get over how clean and crisp the air was! |

We borrowed Dave's parents bikes for a ride at Ashokan Reservoir. It's an expansive road where no cars are allowed. It was simply breathtaking! There were many runners and other bike riders as well as photographers looking for bald eagles that make their home nearby and had made an appearance earlier in the morning. This was my first time seeing the Catskill Mountains since we had gotten in late the night before when it was too dark to see them. |

I loved Dave's parents lovely farm house. |

Dave's dad is a guide for the Catskill Mountains and has done all of them many times so it was pretty epic to have him as our private guide on a hike up one of the hardest trails. We hiked Plateau Mountain to the very top and it us 4 hours total. Although it was freezing out, it was a fun and beautiful hike. I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes at the end of a long, hard hike. I was sore for days afterward!

On the flight home after a great few trip. Dave and I parted ways at the airport because we both had to go on work trips so I headed to the midwest where I am based still for a little longer and he hopped on a flight back to Florida. Dave's dad gave me this Emily Dickson's Poems book that belonged to his mother. I love it! |
