This Christmas was full of love and good times at home. I feel blessed to have spent Christmas week at home this year and that Dave was able to join my family in Wisconsin for a few days of it as well!
I hope that your new year so far is fabulous and that 2016 is you're best year yet. Let's all grab life by the horns, take control and make it a good one. I want to remember that it's up to me and no one else to make sure life rocks this year. As my little affirmation app today reminded me, "I have two choices for the situation I'm in: change it or accept it."
Below is a roundup of a few memories from December.
Can't get over how cute these cookies I made with my neicies turned out. Here are the 2 I am most proud of. ;-) It is so fun being able to do kid stuff with my favorite little girls!
Actually, I guess even when I'm not with my neicies I still act like a kid. ;-) This cute little "letter to Santa" station was set up in the Detroit airport.
Life is too short to be serious all the time, right?!
From a visit to Fort Lauderdale. When we aren't traveling for work, we like to eat at home these days. Dave made us this delicious watermelon juice which is my very favorite thing to drink and these amazing huge salads.
My dashing brother the day he got his braces off with my newest niece at my middle neices school Christmas recital.
From the most joyous flight of the year: the one homeward bound for Christmas!
I love when Dave comes to the Midwest and I get to plan fun dates for him in places he has never been. The rest of the photos are from a special day last week when I took him to 3 of my happy places in Milwaukee I grew up going to.
We started with lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market. This place is a must see if you are ever in Milwaukee! It's filled with local and organic food at seperate little stands. Everything you could want to eat or drink is probably there. A great place to eat with friends because there is something for everyone. It has a great atmosphere, too. Atmosphere is very important to me in where I choose to spend my time.
Speaking of atmosphere, Collectivo coffee shop has atmosphere down to perfection. After fresh squeezed juice and huge veggie paninis, we headed to collectivo. Nothing beats this coffee shop! It's the coolest old building that used to be a water plant so it has some cool history to it and the water pump is still intact. If you are from Milwaukee, chances are you know and love this place. If you aren't, it's worth checking out. Beware though: the coffee served here is stronger than even real Colombian coffee I've had. I like my coffee STRONG and black but this stuff is wickedly potent. I got the new matcha latte with almond milk which was simply delicious.
One of my favorite things to do is ice skate in the wintertime. It's one tradition I never miss. A tradition I love is getting all bundled up to go ice skating at red arrow park in Milwaukee. They serve Starbucks, play good music and if you don't have you're own skates you can rent them for less than 10$.
Hope your Christmas was extra merry, too!
xx
