Dave and I had been excited about visiting Saint Augustine for a while. We both had a few days off in Febuary work and he planned the perfect little beach getaway for us. Since it is 4 hours from where we live in Fort Lauderdale it was a nice little road trip for us and a break from airports and planes. We were even able to pack up our bikes in the back of Dave's truck which was awesome since we really got to use them a bunch during this little trip.
He found a beautiful little cottage a block from the beach on air bnb which was recently renovated and adorable. I couldn't imagine a more perfect place for a little R&R time. The place we stayed near the beach was about 15 minutes from the actual city so it was much quieter which was lovely. The beach was so expansive and un-crowded which was a great break from the busy beach we live near in Fort Lauderdale!
St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in America and has a very European feel to it. It was founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral and Florida's first governor, Pedro Menendez de Aviles. The city has such an old world feel to it and it is the perfect place to walk around and get lost in. There are so many cute little restaurants and a cool old fort to explore. There are also many art shops and boutiques making it a great place to browse around.
