If you are traveling and committed to staying on track with eating healthy, you should consider packing your own food before you get to the airport. As a flight attendant, I know that it adds on one more thing to worry about before you take a trip but trust me, it is worth it! You will be so happy you went prepared and don't arrive at your destination feeling either hungry, broke or sick from all the nasty and over priced food you had to eat. I don't know about you, but for some reason while I am flying I always get hungry. Some people mentioned that they enjoyed THIS post on healthy eating while traveling and would be interested in more similar ideas on how to stay healthy while away from home.
If you are nervous about having to throw food away, you can read the TSA rules on liquids on their website HERE. I recently discovered cute, inexpensive spice jars from Bed, Bath and Beyond which have been a lifesaver with packing liquids! Obviously you can also use ziplock baggies or mini Tupperware. If you can, pick up a little lunch box to throw in your carry on to keep things from getting messy. (Just remember you can only have 2 carry on items normally so you will need to consolidate your bags while getting on the plane.) Get creative and remember this is going to make your flight SO much more enjoyable! It is also a great idea to pick up some magazines like Health and Shape to read on board to stay inspired.
