Seattle

I decided the morning of this 24 hour trip to join my love on his layover in Seattle last week. It was my first time there and I am so glad I finally discovered the city for myself.

Now I look forward to go back one day in the warmer months, although I am glad I saw it for the first time on such a rainy day. It was actually quite beautiful and charming in the rain and so typical of Seattle that I enjoyed it very much.

First stop, PIKE PLACE MARKET
THE FIRST STARBUCKS

We had a (surprisingly) up scale sushi dinner at a restaurant we didn't expect to be so "upscale". Always interesting when you walk into what you expect to be a normal sushi restaurant all wet and feeling not so chic and it is such a fancy place that the hostess takes your Starbucks  paper cup and pours it into a nice mug for you. Although we had a lovely time and good conversation during our dinner per usual, Sushi Kashiba in our humble opinion was just so-so. Probably just because we aren't lovers of that snooty feeling some of those higher end restaurants have.

After dinner, we walked the streets thru downtown back to the hotel completely satisfied by what a wonderful day we had. The rain had stopped so the streets had that blissful just rained scent and it seemed to be a bit warmer out. It was the perfect evening walk and a wonderful way to end the day.

It is rare that I find new cities these days that give me that sense of infatuation with a place. Isn't this the feeling that travel junkies like myself chase after? I kept feeling excitement over and over for all the new sights and smells and sounds all over the streets we covered in Seattle.

I am grateful to Seattle for giving me that feeling of joy from traveling once again. It has been too long.
